Portrait assignment/ head drawing

I want to to draw three heads from the below or from earlier heads we've used for reference:

One: a structurally based head, with all the shapes etc, figured out for information.

Two : a rendered head with three controlled  values( black, dark grey, light grey and paper white) focusing on shadow shapes and blocking in darks and reflected light

Three: a head with a focus on a simple line/mark treatment where each mark represents shape form and light using line weight.
Try to use the line to create character and personality of the face.

Process of working with photo nudes and establishing 3 dimensions.

Assignment: pick 5 figures from the last blog post and draw 5 drawings using these steps and everything we spoke about so far this semester. If shading, use only 1 tone and black and white.

start with beans and tubes building the mannequin off your gesture. remember the draw over, under and around the forms.
It can help to define the space the drawing fits in using marks on the page to indicate "live drawing area"
Once gesture is in, start builsing up tube forms...break forms into sectioned tubes to figure out foreshortening
Break down head and hands and other details into basic shapes. fingers, toes, feet etc.
build up contour lines into more final lines, using line weight to indicate shadows, where objects meet, fall into darkness and move into foreground
use a single tone to indicate value. try to restrict values to 3, black, white and midtone grey. Think of shadows as shapes that connect forms of the body.

Figure in the picture plane, foreshortening and perspective.

Study the following pages, we will go voer them in class and try to bring this to the drawings from class.
